It never ceases to amaze me that folks will throw almost anything just about anywhere they darned well please. I, for your life of me, cannot figure out why folks have become so dead minded they think most of us go out to the wilderness in order to get a full take a look at their refuse. If someone will throw their trash onto a good looking landscape - what is do the persons inner sanctum, kitchens, and bathrooms seem like? I ask that rhetorically, because frankly, I'd be afraid to see such filth if their littering and garbage dumping habits reflect their housekeeping skills.
There are lots of reasons that folks forward for litter. I'm sorry, ignorance doesn't fly when camping.
How high does an individual's IQ have to be to understand which they are trashing up a spot? The only reasons I see for littering in the wilderness are selfishness and laziness. It is the classic psychotic attitude. “Let someone else care for me and get after me, why must I need to be responsible? It's an excessive amount of work, so I'll make another individual do it"
Well, here's a heads up folks. We do not need to look at your food cans, baby diapers, empty oil jugs, candy wrappers, or another type which you manage to believe it's privilege to ruin the advantage of the landscape with. If you simply can't act better than that, I feel we really need new laws to hold you under control with - like community want to the tune of earning you get five bags of trash for every single article you happen to be caught dumping off around the everybody else. And is really a great one for second time offenders - ankle bracelets which will alert officials if you try to go anywhere that your pigery will tarnish spectacular landscapes. That's right, in the event you can't become responsible boys and girls, lets just help you stay in the home where you can pig to your heart's content and you will be the only person suffering from it.
Now if everything seems harsh, look at this. The AFMS and other clubs operate very difficult to preserve our rights to recover rocks and gems in lots of areas that the Government is attempting to seal right down to public access as a result of environmental damage which a small number of you are creating with no second thought. Regional clubs often volunteer to steward some areas to help keep them open for people.
So you happen to be not just throwing some trash and ruining the good thing about the region for everyone else, you're actually acting to get our freedoms and well known recreations extracted from us. This is not sitting well with those of us who pick your trash up after you, or work to reverse any other damages you might inflict. When I cart a full garbage bag of trash coming from a rock or camp site that I would not bring in beside me, it's not at all the Government who I have a conflict with. It is the lazy, selfish little litterbugs who think given that they happen to be somewhere to enjoy it, that nobody else's right to accomplish that matters.
Unfortunately, the trash issue is increasing rapidly. I am carrying a lot more garbage from areas each time I go out. I am much more severe when I say the time is right for severe actions against those who refer to a right to litter.
Here is. If you call yourself a rockhound, fossil hunter, artifact hunter, gold prospector, or treasure hunter, you are binding yourself to an oath for the rockhound community - countless rockhounds worldwide - to be careful when you're inside the wilderness. That includes clearing up after yourself, and in the event you can't manage that concept, you're not a rockhound, fossil hunter, artifact hunter, gold prospector, or treasure hunter. You are just a rights threatening nuisance who is only wasting oxygen. STAY HOME.
To allow us to protect the honor of those who enjoy our recreation and work to shield our lands and enjoyment ones, the AFMS (website: has written a code of rockhound ethics. If you sincerely wish to be thought of as a part from the community, you'll read these codes and follow them religiously.
I am publishing their code for all to find out and adopt as his or her own code of action for the benefit of themselves and many types of other people who share this planet. And I am also extending my sincerest many thanks towards the AFMS for diligence when controling the Government to figure out ways to safeguard our rights to savor the land while at the same time working to maintain all sorts healthy. My hat is off and away to you folks. Know you're appreciated!!
THE CODE OF ETHICS
